In May, 2014 Dr. Emde and one of his optical staff, April Johnson went with another optometrist Dr. Dennis Benedict and his wife, Eddye from Knoxville on a Quiet Hour mission trip to San Jose, Costa Rica. Nursing students and others from Southern Adventist University also joined the team. Vision and medical clinics were done throughout the city at the local churches during the day and then the students would hold evangelistic meetings and VBS-like programs for the children at that same church in the evening. Bill Tucker from Quiet Hour Ministries also gave a large evangelistic series in the evenings at one of the locations during that same time which was televised live throughout all of South America. |
