We are excited to announce that Dr. Linnea M. Stonecypher joined our practice January 9, 2023! She is a graduate of Pacific University College of Optometry and comes to us with over 13 years of experience. She is a native of Canada. Her father was also an Optometrist in Alberta, Canada. She is excited to serve the people of Greeneville and Greene County. Both she and Dr. Tabitha Combes are accepting new patients. Schedule your appointment today!
We are also excited to announce that we now offer RETeval full-field electroretinography (ffERG) testing in our office! This new technology is like an EKG for your eye. Like an EKG for your heart, which measures the electrical signals within the heart as it beats, an ERG measures the speed and strength of the electrical signal within the retina itself. It has over 300 different protocols to use for special testing which is helpful in patients with diabetes, hypertension, and glaucoma just to name a few. The test takes about 60 seconds per eye and provides an painless, objective analysis of the actual function of the retina without the patient having to do anything but look straight ahead at a fixation target. This technology is a very powerful addition to the other state-of-the-art testing we provide because much of the traditional eye testing looks at the structure of the retina, macula and optic nerve, but this also looks at how well it is functioning. Evaluating both the structure AND function gives us a much more complete picture of the health of the retina which otherwise we wouldn't know. Watch the following video for more information:
We continue to incorporate Optomap ultra-wide high definition retinal imaging with fundus autoflourescence technology into our comprehensive eye exams and specific disease management protocols. Studies have shown, that this technology, when combined with a thorough dilated eye exam, will detect up to 31% more retinal disease than a regular dilated eye exam would. This enables us to continue our commitment to provide our patients with the best eye care available today.
We are happy to have opened the EVEC Advanced Testing & Treatment Center in the newly renovated lower floor of our building! This will provide us the space for additional eye exams, easier parking, and more space to offer more advanced technologies to detect and treat eye conditions for our patients. For example, we are now offering LipiScan & LipiFlow in Greeneville! We are the first and only office in Greeneville who offers this state-of-the-art therapy for dry eye sufferers and which has become the gold standard! More than just covering up the symptoms of dry eye, LipiFlow now effectively treats MGD (meibomian gland disease) which affects 86% of dry eye sufferers. LipiScan can easily show the severity of MGD and can be done at your yearly eye exam or a special visit to our office to see if LipiFlow would benefit you.
